3M product specification library

3M commercial architectural film, family by family.

3M's current architectural catalog spans sun control families, safety and security films, and glass finishes. This library explains what each family is built to do, what it changes about the glass, and where it belongs in a commercial building — so you can specify it rather than guess at it.

Window Tint Philly is an independent installer of 3M architectural film. Product performance data, service life and warranty terms come from current 3M documentation, which we attach to proposals rather than paraphrase.

Buyer questions

3M film, answered plainly

What is 3M window film?
3M window film is a thin multilayer polyester film applied to existing glass to change how it handles solar energy, glare, ultraviolet light, privacy or breakage. 3M's architectural catalog is split into sun control families, safety and security films, and glass finishes. The film is a retrofit to the glass you already have, not a glass replacement.
How do Prestige, Night Vision and Ceramic differ conceptually?
Prestige films are non-metallized multilayer optical films built to reject solar energy while staying visually clear. Night Vision films are designed to reduce exterior reflectivity so the view out at night is less mirrored than with conventional reflective film. Ceramic architectural films use ceramic-based construction for heat rejection at a range of visible light levels. Which is right depends on the glass, the exposure and how much appearance change the building can accept.
How much does 3M window film cost?
There is no single square-foot rate. Price follows the film family, the total glass area, the number of separate openings, access (ground level versus lift or occupied floor), whether perimeter attachment is in scope, and whether the work runs after hours. We quote a range against a named product and a stated quantity so the allowance survives the final glazing package.
How long does 3M window film last?
Service life depends on the specific product, the glass, the orientation and the interior or exterior application. 3M publishes warranty terms per film family and per application type, and those documents — not a sales claim — are what we attach to a proposal.
