What is TSER?
TSER — total solar energy rejected — is the percentage of incident solar energy across ultraviolet, visible and infrared wavelengths rejected by the glass and film assembly together. It is the honest headline number for heat performance, and it is always stated against a specific glass configuration.
TSER is more useful than a marketed "infrared rejection" figure, which often covers only a narrow band of wavelengths and can look impressive while describing a small share of the total energy.
Because it is an assembly property, comparing TSER values across manufacturers only means something when both are quoted on the same glass makeup. Comparing a value on clear single glazing to one on a tinted insulating unit is meaningless.
For specification purposes, quote TSER with the glass configuration attached. A number without one cannot be verified.
