Commercial use-case briefIndustry — General contractors

General Contractors

You need a number on bid day, submittals that do not come back rejected, and a sub that installs on the sequence you give them. That is the whole relationship.

01

Send the documents, get a scope

Architectural drawings, glazing schedules, elevations, the specification section and any addenda. We take off the glass, flag anything in the spec that does not match the glazing shown, and return line-item pricing by elevation or partition type.

If the spec names a film that is wrong for the glass, you hear about it before bid day rather than during submittals.

02

Submittals and coordination

Product data, samples, and where security film is in scope, the attachment method and detail. We coordinate glass release, protection of finished surfaces and access with the superintendent.

Film is late-sequence work: glazing installed, cleaned and released. We plan to that and we do not ask for the building early.

What we need to price accurately

  • Glazing schedule and glass types by opening
  • Elevations and glass sizes
  • Specification section and any addenda
  • Interior partition types where decorative film is in scope
  • Bid due date and anticipated construction schedule
  • Site access, lift or staging conditions
03

Occupied and phased work

Renovation inside an occupied building is most of what we do. Night work, weekend work and area-by-area turnover are normal, and protection and cleanup are part of the scope rather than an extra.

Seaford School District

Privacy and safety/security film retrofitted to existing glazing, with 3M impact protection attachment (IPA) applied around the perimeter of the treated openings so the film is anchored to the frame rather than the glass alone.

Common questions

Straight answers

How fast can you turn a bid?
Turnaround is confirmed when we receive the documents and depends on the size of the takeoff and the bid date. Send the drawings and the due date and we will tell you immediately whether we can meet it.
Do you provide submittals and closeout documentation?
Yes — product data, samples, attachment details where applicable, and warranty documentation with quantities by elevation at closeout.
Can you work nights and weekends?
Yes. Occupied-building work is routine and is planned into the schedule rather than priced as an exception afterwards.

Next step

Send the glass, the elevation and the complaint.

Site survey for existing buildings, plan review for projects in design. Either way the first conversation is about the glass.
